Elopement Photography & Videography FAQ
Answers to the questions we hear most from couples planning a Colorado elopement - from Roo and Mal at Castlehouse Videography!
Investment & Booking
-
Investment depends on the service you choose. Photo-only coverage averages around $4,000, video-only averages around $5,000, and combined photo + video — our most popular option — averages around $6,000, with collections ranging from $4,500 to $9,000 depending on hours of coverage. Every collection includes both of us on your day, a custom itinerary, local planning support, an online gallery, Super 8 footage, and a one-week turnaround!
-
Every photo and video collection includes both Roo and Mal capturing your day as a team, a custom day-of itinerary, local elopement guidance and planning support, an online photo and video gallery, Super 8 film footage woven into your highlight video, and a one-week turnaround on all deliverables.
-
The Portrait Collection includes three hours of coverage and a 3-5 minute highlight film. The Explorer Collection includes five hours of coverage and a 3-5 minute highlight film with audio. The Journey Collection includes full-day coverage, a longer 6-9 minute highlight film, and vertical social media edits. All three include a separate, lightly-edited vow video.
-
Our core collections are all-inclusive and priced to reflect everything included, so individual services aren't sold separately outside of them. You can add a la carte extras on top of any collection, including content creation edits, polaroid photos, or an additional day of coverage!
-
Yes! We ask for a deposit to secure your date, and we're happy to set up a payment plan for the remaining balance that works for your timeline.
-
We recommend booking within a week of your initial coffee chat with us. We only take a limited number of elopements each month and dates fill quickly, so booking promptly also gives us more time to help with planning and logistics!
Coverage & Deliverables
-
Just one week! Every collection includes a one-week turnaround on all edited photos and video from your elopement day. One of the fastest turnaround times in the industry :-)
-
We offer both! We have photo-only, video-only, and combined photo + video collections available. Most couples choose photo + video so they only have to work with one vendor, and because Roo and Mal edit everything together as a couple, your photos and videos end up visually cohesive rather than mismatched between two separate vendors!
-
It depends on how much you're planning for your day! Our Portrait Collection includes three hours, ideal for a shorter adventure day. Our Explorer Collection includes five hours, which fits most couples comfortably. Our Journey Collection includes full-day coverage for couples who want zero time constraints and room for spontaneity!
-
We deliver all photos through Pic-Time, an online gallery that's easy to view, share, and download. We also publish highlight films to our YouTube channel so couples can revisit them anytime and future couples can see real examples of our work.
-
Many couples find video adds something photos alone can't: the sound of your vows, your voices, and the movement of the day. Because we offer both as one team, you don't have to choose between them or coordinate two separate vendors, and your photos and video will match visually since we edit both ourselves!
Style & Location
-
Cinematic, authentic, and joyful. We give light direction when it's helpful and step back to let real moments unfold the rest of the time, so your photos and films feel like your actual day rather than a staged production.
-
We focus exclusively on elopements rather than traditional venue weddings, with a guest list capped at five people. Instead of working within a venue's grounds, we help couples choose from a range of Colorado elopement locations, from mountain overlooks to red rock landscapes, based on the backdrop and experience they're dreaming of.
-
We're based in Boulder, Colorado, and shoot elopements across the state, from mountain overlooks to red rock deserts. Travel fees only apply for locations more than 2.5 hours outside Boulder, and we're happy to travel further and discuss fees on a case-by-case basis! You’d be surprised how many insanely beautiful locations are within this radius though!
-
We build a flexible plan with you ahead of time and stay in close communication if weather changes. Depending on the situation, that might mean adjusting the day's plan or rescheduling to a day we're both free, always prioritizing your safety and experience!
-
We cap guest attendance at five people. We've found that keeping the group small allows couples to relax and be fully present, which is central to how we approach every elopement we capture.
About Us & Experience
-
We've captured over 100 elopements across more than six years in business. We take on a limited number of couples each month so every elopement gets our full attention!
-
Both! Castlehouse Videography is run by Roo and Mal, a married couple who offer photography, videography, and elopement planning support as one team, so you only have a single vendor to coordinate with instead of separate photo and video vendors. Yay!
