Marie + Tevin | Garden of the Gods Elopement

This was the first elopement after COVID has hit and it was definitely one to remember. I had just moved from Colorado Springs to Denver two days before this elopement and had mentally said goodbye to the area that I had spent almost 4 years of my life in only to return back. Regardless of the bizarre emotional transition that had taken place being back as a visitor to a place I called home for so long, it was still nice to make some new memories here as always. Donned with a mask alongside my second shooter, Megan, we met up with Noah Berg from Walnut Street Photography and officiant Brandon Baker at high point overlook. We were talking about the weather not as a point of small talk but from more of a perspecive of wondering if the rain was going to be a problem. When we were driving into Garden of the Gods to film the elopement the skies unleashed a thunderstorm so intense my windshield wipers couldn’t keep up with the speed in which the water was falling.

In classic Colorado fashion in cleared up in a matter of 30 or so minutes and by the time Marie and Tevin had arrived with their one guest the skies were beautiful. Pikes Peak was peaking out from behind the clouds (pun intended…) and the lighting was nice and ambient for pictures and videos to be taken.

Since Colorado is still recommending social distancing, mask wearing and a number of other COVID related health procedures we talked with the couple and did what we could to make it as comfortable and reasonable as possible. They had set up a zoom call with their family and friends on their phone so people could still take part in their wedding ceremony, even during times of social distancing.

The ceremony was so heartwarming and their love for each other was so evident it was amazing to see. Even though there were more cameras than people present on their day, Marie and Tevin were absolute all-stars just laughing their way through the photoshoot after the ceremony. There were a couple of on-lookers during their ceremony that were almost as excited to see Marie and Tevin get married as the couple was. Hopefully it’s clear in the video that these two were just so smiley and easygoing to work with. Overall it was just a fantastic day and another memorable elopement with earth stained wedding dresses at the end. This was one of the first elopements I had a second shooter on and am so thankful for it. Having Megan with me, thus having two videographers, made the day so much easier to handle. Rather than trying to take down the tripod as their signing their marriage license or balancing the gimbal as they walk to the ceremony site, it was amazing to have an extra set up hands to help with filming and making it go as smooth as possible.
