We specialize in outdoor adventure elopements and intimate weddings in Colorado, Washington and beyond. We love love. Roo Smith, the primary filmmaker at Castlehouse, writes love songs in his free time. He tears up at every elopement. Documenting these stories of love genuinely fills Roo’s heart with joy and appreciation. It makes him feel alive. Here at Castlehouse, this is what our business is founded on. We began as wedding filmmakers and documenting stories of love is what got us into the business. It’s brought us so much happiness and so many amazing memories that we will continue to tell stories of love for years to come. This is why love is one of Castlehouse’s core values. We genuinely believe love can change the world, which is why we’ve dedicated ourselves to sharing these stories of love around the globe.

Hope

We believe in the good in people, in the good of the world and that everything, always, is going to turn out just the way it’s supposed to be. When it comes to the environment, we do what we can to leave the world better for the next generation and we dream of making stories that inspire others to do the same. We tell stories of hope because we want to focus on positivity and inspire change. Whether we’re making a video about a group of young people planting trees to help combat deforestation in Ecuador or sharing the story of how local Colorado nonprofits are protecting the national wilderness areas where so many people are now spending their time, these videos are at the core of Castlehouse Videography. We formed this business to serve this core value; hope.

Joy

We smile a lot. We love to see people smile a lot. Years ago, Castlehouse began as a side-project for Roo to film what made him happy while he was in college. Now, as his full-time job and career, this has remained a core element of why he continues to develop Castlehouse. Traveling to an indigenous village in Peru and hiking with local woman who were some of the kindest and most joyous people he’s ever met is just an example. Hopefully when you see in this photo, it makes you smile. A smile makes you smile. We tell stories of joy because we want to spread smiles, laughter and positivity into the world. By pursuing what we love, and telling stories of others doing the same, we hope to see that joy spread far beyond the reaches of our own community.

Adventure

Roo is a wilderness first responder. He’s summited over a dozen 14,000+ft mountains both in the U.S. and outside of it. He’s a backcountry skier, a surfer, a trail runner, and rock climber. He’s traveled to over 20 countries and speaks fluent Spanish as well as conversational Arabic.

Roo lives for the adventure so, naturally, he loves telling stories about it. Creating short outdoor adventure films is what Roo first started created the moment he started picking up a camera. What started as surf adventures with friends soon turned to much more. Now, Castlehouse has served clients in the adventure travel industry as far as Peru but never loses its roots by telling stories of alpine guiding companies here in the mountains of Colorado.

What sets Castlehouse apart is that Roo is an adventurer himself and is able to take his camera to places inaccessible many others cannot. Whether he’s repelling off the side of a cliff to film rock climbers, carrying up camera gear at high altitudes for ski scenes, or using his prior guiding experience to keep groups happy and laughing even in the most adventurous of situations, adventure is at the core of who Roo is.
