Intimate Wedding at A-Frame Cabin near Aspen, Colorado

Brooke and Abhay were some of the kindest people I've ever met and their joy, enthusiasm for life, and genuine connection was such an honor to document on their beautiful wedding day. With only a few family and friends around, they sought to have an experience that was about their love together and the incredible meaning that comes along with that. After lots of happy tears throughout the day (both from me and the rest of those attending), I left with a full heart knowing that the world has another great team doing great things out there.

The difference between intimate weddings and elopements is a bit pedantic but for those wondering, we here at Castlehouse consider an intimate wedding anything more than the happy couple and a few guests but still under 25 total visitors. The definition of an elopement can vary depending on who you ask but it really it’s all about crafting an experience for just you and your partner. Wedding vendors and professionals tend to lean towards a niche within the wedding industry since there are a lot of types of weddings out there. Luxury weddings, boho weddings, destination weddings, intimate weddings and elopements are just a few that you’ll come across in your planning process. We at Castlehouse focus almost exclusively on adventure elopements but will accept a few intimate weddings ever year as long as the couple who reaches out has thought through how they can make the experience special to them and not focus on their guests.

The real difference between intimate weddings / elopements and other styles of weddings; the focus is on you. It’s on the couple. It’s not about the guests or the large venue but rather on how you can celebrate your love in a way that’s true to you. If that means having your family there or catering a nice meal since you’re big foodies (as Brooke + Abhay did here for their elopement) that’s amazing!

Do what feels right. Ultimately, this is all about you and there are no rules so if you get bogged down with the details of how to answer what genre of wedding you’re having just take a step back and know that whatever type of intimate wedding you have doesn’t matter. What matters is choosing an experience that’s magical and will set a foundation for your love to grow on throughout your life.
